About The Staff
Mary Hickman, owner of Select Pet Care, has been passionate about animals since she was a little girl. Born and raised in Texas, she has grown up with many animals in her life and cared for them all.
After graduating high school, Mary wanted to immediately get out on her own and make a name for herself. She got into the insurance industry while putting herself through college, and actually enjoyed it. However, Mary has always wanted to work with animals, whether it is full-time or in her spare time. So, after finishing college, she decided to leave insurance behind and follow her dream.
Today, she owns a thriving pet care business servicing several North Texas cities and is an avid volunteer at her local SPCA and participates in their Foster Program. The SPCA has given her experience with counseling customers on how to pick the right pet, behavioral dog training, and caring for adolescent, ill, or unsocialized animals, which has helped her in caring for her own customer’s pets. Mary currently has 3 pets – Ginger, a 2 yr old chocolate lab mix, Kiki, a 7 yr old van calico cat, and the newest member is Pippi, a tortoiseshell colored kitty.
Mary is also a member of the SPCA of Texas, Professional United Pet Sitters, LLC, & Pet Sitters Associates, LLC.
Genevieve Morrison was brought on in September 2009. She was born and raised in northern California where she grew up on a farm and helped take care of all of the farm animals including pigs, geese, chickens, and many more. She has worked in the pet sitting industry for the past 3 years both professionally and for friends & family.
She has lots of experience handling many types of animals, even difficult cases. Genevieve has given all types of medications, leash-trained dogs, and built relationships with timid and nervous animals.
Today, Genevieve lives in McKinney, TX and helps take care of Allen, Plano & McKinney TX clients. She has 3 beautiful dogs: Onyx – the larger black dog (rottweiler-coonhound-cocker spaniel mix), Hogwarts – a black/white Boston terrier, and Clementine – a red/white Boston terrier. Her dogs love to go on walks and play fetch in their new backyard.
Lauren Naples is Select Pet Care's newest addition. She was born and raised in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Woodstock, Georgia. She grew up with a home filled with kids (2 sisters, 1 brother), several cats, parakeets, an iguana, hamsters, and rescue birds. She also spent every summer at their friend's farm chasing baby goats and chickens. That's where she learned to ride horses over his 75 acres of woods and streams. Lauren’s first dog was a pound puppy, her second, a rescue Corgi. With them she learned leash training, obedience training, and agility competition.
Einstein, her corgi rescue, was a skilled athlete even though his legs were too short. Lauren also worked as a neighborhood pet sitter. She has experience administering medication to reptiles, cats, dogs, birds, and small mammals (rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc…)
Three years ago, Lauren moved from Georgia to Plano, Texas. Here she had the pleasure of meeting her future husband and his babies, Amy (a Catahoula mix) and Mandy (a 35lbs. mixed breed). Both were pound puppies whose gaze he couldn't resist. In June of last year, Amy passed at the old age of 15. Mandy, now 11, is ornery and loves to chase squirrels, though she's not as fast as she used to be. They love to walk near the stream by their house and watch the ducks. Lauren also has a 150 gallon African Ciclid aquarium with a new set of babies, and a 50 gallon tropical aquarium with assorted Mollies and Tetra. She also loves cooking and gardening, and luckily Mandy does too! Lauren will also be taking care of our Allen, Plano, & McKinney TX clients.
